Chalco, Edo. de Mexico is located east of Mexico City. Mexico City is surrounded on three sides, West, North and East, by the Mexico state named Estado de Mexico meaning State of Mexico. People sometimes confuse the State of Mexico with Mexico City.

As seen with many large metropolitan cities throughout the world, businesses and residents have moved to surrounding cities. Chalco and the surrounding cities have generated sufficient economic growth that this area requires its own telephone directory.

Note: In Spanish, the State of Mexico is called Estado de Mexico. Edomex is one abbreviation although Edo. de Mexico is the primary form.
